Music
from the 60s...the 1860s
Traditional & original music performed by Ed
Littlefield, Jr.
"This recording just glistens. It radiates the true spirit of
back porch
American music... 'Peggy-O' is a gem... I just can't stop listening to Going
to the West... is this some kind of potent sonic voodoo?" --- Micky
Hart, the Grateful Dead

"In making this CD, I tried in part to
recreate the sound of the old time music from the mid 1800s.
Miss
Julia and I like to dance to old time fiddle tunes and 'Kingdom Coming'
and 'Over the Waterfall' are two tunes that one might contra dance to.
After a set of square dances and contra dances the bands typically end
with a waltz before they take a break.
I have very much enjoyed
waltzing with Julia and I had her lovely image before me as I composed
this tune. Some folks write love poems or letters or can think of
clever romantic things to say; sadly I am all too often tongue-tied in
these efforts, but am able to compose the occasional tune. 'Miss
Julia's
Waltz' is one of songs that have been inspired by Julia Derby, the
other
being 'Miss Julia's Dream.'" – Ed Littlefield, Jr.
"Just a quick note to let you know how much
I am enjoying the CD. I listen to
it all the time, and just love the cadence of your voice and the
beautiful melodies. 'Peggy-O' is one of my favourite songs and I've
never heard it sung more sweetly." – Wade Davis, author of Shadows in
the Sun and One River.
